Snow excuse for not working

Let me guess: your first thoughts this morning were along the lines of 'Oh no! Not another snow day! That means I'm missing all of my Hamlet lessons this week!'

Right?

No need to worry chaps.

When you're fed up of building snowmen and making snow angels, spend a bit of time pondering the questions below:

1) Lawrence Olivier said of the play “Hamlet is the tragedy of a man who could not make up his mind.” Some would agree. How far do you find this to be the case? Find examples to support your argument from at least 3 different parts of the play, including at least one soliloquy. Look back at your notes on tragedy to understand the concept of 'fatal flaw'.

2) How do you view the character Hamlet? Fortinbras describes him as 'like a soldier', but is this fair? Is he a tragic hero? A man of action? Or a thinker who is slow to act? Trace Hamlet's response to his tragic burden through the play, paying close attention to at least 3 different parts of the play, and come to your own conclusion about the protagonist.

I'll discuss these with you next week.
